In the My Care Concept customer portal, you can download information on insurance coverage, in which you will find more detailed information. These contain important information for the doctor about your insurance coverage. Please take one to your doctor. He can then send us the bill directly. Since there is no direct contractual relationship between us and the doctor, however, it is possible that he will send the bill(s) directly to you.

In order to process your claim, we always need a disease designation (diagnosis). Usually your doctor has already noted it on the bill. X-ray or laboratory bills often do not contain a diagnosis. In this case we also need the invoice of the attending physician who arranged the examination.

We will then check your entitlement to benefits and usually reimburse the doctor directly.

No! You will not be informed if the costs are directly reimbursed to the doctor. If the costs cannot be reimbursed or cannot be reimbursed in full, you will be informed in writing.

The medication must be prescribed by a doctor. You pay for it directly at the pharmacy, which then notes the purchase price on the prescription and stamps the disbursement note of the medication to you. Please submit the prescription only along with the invoice of the physician treating you. Otherwise we will not be able to review your claim. If we do not yet know your bank details, please let us know these at the same time.

When you are admitted to the hospital, please say that you are insured with us and show your insurance card, which you can download in our My Care Concept Customer Service Portal. In general, only the costs of the standard care class are covered (comparable to the benefits provided through public health insurance in Germany). The hospital then submits an application for cost coverage. We will then arrange everything else.

The costs of pain-relieving dental treatment including simple fillings are reimbursed. If the expected costs exceed 250 EUR, a treatment plan and cost estimate must be submitted to us in advance for review. In the Care Au Pair insurance plan, this limit is EUR 500 at the M rate and EUR 1,000 at the XL rate. In Care Economy, we pay a maximum of EUR 300, including repairs of existing dental prosthesis, for a contract period of up to 180 days and a maximum of EUR 600 for a contract period of more than 180 days. Some plans also provide benefits for dental prostheses. However, depending on the insurance coverage chosen, reimbursement may be limited to the repair of existing prostheses or to certain amounts. Waiting periods must also be taken into account. This means that the insurance must be in place for some time before you can claim benefits. If in doubt, please submit a treatment plan and cost estimate before you go for dental treatment. We will then inform you in writing about the benefits to which you are entitled.

No! Only the costs of acutely necessary pain-relieving treatments are reimbursed by the international health insurance. Teeth cleaning is a preventive measure that is not medically necessary and, above all, does not serve to treat pain. No benefits are provided for cleanings.

This varies greatly, depending on the insurance coverage taken out. With some plans or rates we reimburse the costs of visual aids (including contact lenses) up to certain amounts after a certain contract period. The prerequisite is that the visual aid has been prescribed by a doctor and the visual acuity is stated. Sunglasses are generally not reimbursed.

No! Only the costs of medically necessary treatment are reimbursed by the international health insurance. These requirements are not met for preventive medical check-ups/screenings (including vaccinations). In general, no benefits are possible for such preventive measures.

As a rule, pregnancies already existing at the time of taking out the insurance are excluded from coverage. If a pregnancy is detected, further examination is first required. Please have your gynaecologist confirm in writing when the pregnancy was first medically diagnosed and in which week of pregnancy you were at that time. Please submit this confirmation and enclose a complete copy of your maternity log (pregnancy record).

No! The costs of contraceptive or even anti-conception measures (birth control pill, contraceptive coil/IUD, diaphragm, etc.) are generally not reimbursable. This also includes all examinations that serve to determine a suitable contraceptive method. The costs of an abortion are also not covered.

Please speak to your doctor in such cases. They will certainly find out quickly that the invoice was paid twice and will immediately reimburse you for the amount overpaid.

The costs of treatment for the consequences of an accident are reimbursed by the health insurance coverage. Accident insurance also offers insurance protection against the consequences of physical impairment (disability) caused by an accident. Even if you do not take out accident insurance, your health insurance will still provide you with coverage for injuries caused by accidents.

If the costs are generally reimbursable, you pay a deductible per insured event as follows:

• in the Care Global Basic plan: EUR 50
• in the Care Economy plan: EUR 25
• in the Care Au Pair S plan: EUR 35
• in the Care Au Pair SI plan: EUR 50
• in the Care Expatriate plan you can choose between three different deductible rates.

• Inthe Care College Basic plan: 120,– EUR deductible / insurance year
• In the Care Student plan: 300,– EUR deductible / insurance year

Exceptions are made for gynaecological examinations and childbirths - in these cases there is almost always a deductible (please refer to the description of the respective plan rate).
The amount of the deductible is deducted from the reimbursement. You then pay the co-payment to the doctor, in addition.
