Who is eligible for coverage? If you’re planning to begin a course of study in Germany, you must as a rule take out student insurance with one of the statutory health insurance providers. As the official cooperation partner of DAK–Gesundheit, we make it very easy for you: If you are not older than 29 and are beginning a course of study in the first semester at a university/university of applied sciences in Germany, you can apply for your student insurance with DAK-Gesundheit directly online here. What are the insurance benefits? In addition to full public insurance coverage, with DAK-Gesundheit you enjoy a whole range of special services from the very first day of the semester (see also Description of statutory health insurance for students). Make use of the outstanding service we offer: support for students around the clock, foreign language support for foreign students, individual contact persons at over 800 DAK-Gesundheit service points across Germany. What does the insurance cost? The contribution rate for student health insurance (health and long-term care insurance for students) is determined for all students by law. In addition, there is the individual additional contribution for public health insurance. The contributions are from 1.1.2023 €96,79/month for health insurance and €27,61/month for long-term care insurance (or €32,48 for persons 23 years old or older without children). |
You can apply for the student health insurance directly online.
Within a few minutes you will receive an email containing your provisional certificate of insurance for student health insurance coverage for presentation at embassies, visa offices and authorities.
When you enroll, the university must have your insurance certificate from the statutory health insurance fund. DAK-Gesundheit automatically reports this insurance certificate to your university. If your university does not yet participate in the digital system, you will receive a paper insurance certificate.
